All the pretty colors…

Lately I’ve been REALLY into makeup. For years I put my make up on the same way, using the same colors with only a variation in lipstick due to necessity – the store ran out of the color I was wearing.
I forgot how much i loved putting on makeup especially eyeshadow. The different methods, the variety of colors, matching my clothes… I’ve been surfing makeup blogs and just love looking at the awesome colors. But wow is there a lot of makeup on the market – and some very expensive too.
I’ve fallen in love with Wet n Wild Color Icon eyeshadows.
I realized that it’s difficult to carry several eyeshadow palettes with me everywhere I go. I live in Texas and it’s very hot – you have to be able to touch up makeup, just in case. So I found several diy mods which allow you to create a magentized freestyle makeup palette of out of a DVD case which I thought was pretty cute, but didn’t think it would protect my makeup very well (not that it’s expensive makeup but I still want to protect the makeup I have bought). So I decided to spend a little more for better quality and opted for a Unii. I took several days debating on wheter it was worth the expense but in the end, I decided to indulge myself. I purchased the eggplant color. It should be here in the next day or two – I’m so excited!
Snipers and Kim Kardashian

I just got through watching Sniper: Deadliest Mission on the History Channel… all I have to say is those dudes are badass!
Two-hour special provides unprecedented insights into one of military warfare’s most specialized jobs, highly accurate shooting under often-extreme stress. Snipers talk about their previously classified missions.
I also saw an episode of Keeping up with the Kardashians where Kim gets botox and has a bad reaction.
I’m not sure I really believe the bruises etc… maybe it’s all hollywood irritation.
It’s been a long time… but here I am

So I’ve been gone for a while… but I’m back. In the last year, I was hit by the recession. I lost my crappy job to a layoff. (April 09) Funny thing is I wasn’t mad, I was relieved. I stayed home with the kids over the summer which was nice. It took me 8 months to find another job. The week my unemployment benefits check ran out, I interviewed and landed the job! I’m very happy to be at my new place… i enjoy my job very much. It’s so nice to feel appreciated. In between – I’ve also built a custom website for brother in law. Pretty soon i’ll be working on myown design. We’ll see how that goes…
Well I’m happy to be back…
How much can happen in 2 months???

I’ve really missed blogging & getting comments from my readers… which is what i really need right now, feedback…
So the last couple of months here’s what’s been going on -
- Soccer Season came and went (almost)
- I got written up at work – for stupid shit. (and I do mean stupid – like need to say Good Morning, Smile more, Visit w/ people at their desk)
- Looked for a job. Still can’t find anything.
- Daycare deposited postdated check and overdrafted my account – twice.
- Gained some weight.
- Hurricane Ike came and went – Destroyed fence between us and neighbor. It’s still not replaced.
- Our wonderful Pit bull, Budda died – we think he was poisoned.
- Had a miscarriage – took no time off work because I was too worried about being written up.
- Had a breakdown at work.
- Nailed interview. Said I was ideal. Two days later got a call they are having a hiring freeze.
- Found out my blood pressure is “elevated”. Given Meds.
- Daycare charged $200 registration – it’s still not paid.
- Broke out in severe acne. All over my face.
- Son lost only pair of glasses somewhere on the soccer field. Still not replaced.
- Rushed Hubby to ER due to partial paralysis in face. Turns out it was not a stroke but Bell’s palsy. Out $200 from visit and meds. (worth it, but still was money I didn’t have)
- Clipped the front corner of my car & ground effects and tore them up.
- The next day, while driving in the rain – a girl rear ended me and scraped my bumper.
- Hubby being sued by collection agency for old debt.
- Employed attorny to help us with lawsuit.
- Caught a bad flu, now have lingering brochitis.
- Haven’t cleaned house since I don’t know when. Clean clothes all over the place that need to be folded & hung.
- Haven’t been able to sleep more than a couple of hours a night. Everynight.
Athough these things seem to be small – they’ve been adding up. I’m feel upset and depressed – which is not a surprise. I’ve suffered from depression on and off since high school. But lately i’ve been very grouchy and seem to be on the verge of tears. Everytime I get a few bucks in my hand, they seem to fly right out of my hands. I feel like I’m treading water…
Bought it… now what?

So a couple of weeks ago I went ahead and purchased my .com – so now what? I guess I was all excited to buy it – then after words it struck me, duh!, it costs monthly to host … nice planning. Although it doesn’t cost much, I guess I didn’t think it through. Not a problem though, I know that some plans host multiple sites – and where my bil’s site is hosting from, I can add mine on. Only problem right now is that he doesn’t have the do whatever option on – he’s only paying for basic right now. I’ll have to hurry up and get his “custom” website up and ready to go so he can change his otpion to allow coding for customizing and not just using their pre-made templates.
Have to be hotter than .. er.. her!

Although today was a Friday, I telecommuted because my car wouldn’t start. I have no idea why. I have an auto off feature for my headlights so who knows. The hubby is gonna take the battery in tomorrow – so pray for us. Getting back to my story – I’m not a big Oprah fan but today I was flipping channels and saw her episode of Transgendered Families. The show was about Dad’s who had decided to change to women. Now I’m all for do what makes you happy, but I will say if I was going to be on national tv with my man now turned woman – I would definitely have to be hotter than him.
The wife
The husband
Damn! Take some makeup tips from your hubby!

Why is it that women don’t value our services/knowledge with as much worth as a man? Is that the Glass Ceiling Syndrome working in our own psyche? And the perpetuating stereotypical expectations of the opposite sex don’t help either.
I say this because if you don’t already know – I’m a girl geek. I’ve been in the IT industry for about 10 years. I’ve done everything from HelpDesk Tech to Applications. I can work on computer hardware, build machines, troubleshoot issues, remove viruses – the whole lot.
Anyhow, a co-worker of my hubby asked if I could fix his laptop. It turns out that the laptop had a lock on the Bios, as well as a lock on the Hard Drive. Which basically means at bootup – it wouldn’t do shit. Ask me how this happened and I’ll just say, I didn’t ask questions, I am only contracted to do the work asked and I presume the laptop was a “gift”.
Supposedly, he had taken the laptop to a big time tech friend who works for a well known hospital and another friend that works as a computer consultant. Both male and both kept the laptop for a couple of months; neither could fix it.
I really like challenges and I tend to be analytical which serves me well when troubleshooting. So to make some side cash, I told him to bring it and I’d look at it. The deal was IF I could rebuild the machine the cost would be $100.
Well being that I’m badass (say “She’s badass!”), I was able to crack both passwords in less than 2 hours. I reloaded the machine with a new OS and he was good to go!
He was excited that I was able to “fix” the machine. However, upon payment – he tried to give me a little bit of go around. I felt like if it had been a man that would have fixed his machine, there would have been no squabble. He did pay, after all I did do the job and he ended up praising what a great tech I am. Nonetheless – the incident caused me to think about the many times I’ve fixed machines for far less than most guys would charge – at least the ones I know.
Does any one else feel their worth is valued differently based on gender?
One more time!

My brother called a couple of days ago to tell me he’ll be coming home again – one more time before his deployment. This time over Labor Day weekend. I’m happy to know I’ll get to see him again. He’s already missing his wife and baby! My boss has been accommodating and given me the Friday before Labor Day off (the day he flies in). The Tues after Labor Day I may have to telecommute, normally my day is Wed for telecommute, but I’m gonna see if the other girl will trade me. We’ll see…
Much needed vacation…

I know it’s been a bit since I’ve posted… but I took 2 wks and a day off from work. During that time, I was happy to visit with my brother, his wife and baby. He’s in the military & they drove here from Cali. He moved them home while he will be going back then deployed to the Middle East. (please pray for his safe return.) We hadn’t seen the baby (or them) since December… so it was nice to see how much the baby’s grown. He’s 9 mos now! So we hung out at my mom’s, went out to dinner, bbq’d at the pool and partied at a local nightclub. That was nice because it’s been a long time since my and the man have gone out. We had a large group with us!… me and my hubby, my hubby’s brother’s, their wives, my hubby’s sister, my bro and his wife, my SIL’s brother and his girlfriend. Not to mention a couple of friends and their groups we ran into. Everyone drank grey goose with cranberry juice but for me, the drink of the night was crown and coke, of course! Anyhow – the music was great! Here’s how the table looked at the end of the night!…
Flea Free!

No kidding! Only took 2 weeks and less than $20!!!! Woohoo!
After putting down the borax/salt mix, waiting, vacuuming – then repeating several more times…. We are flea free! I won’t lie though – getting that borax out of the couch was a bitch! Lots of hitting & vacuuming. But none the less Borax/salt did dehydrate all them little bast-cough-buggers. So I’m a happy girl!
